Let’s Drive 07/14/20

Winding River RV Resort, Grand Lake, Colorado

Anger is cruel and fury overwhelming, but who can stand before jealousy?  ~ Proverbs 27:4

We didn’t do much hiking today, but we did drive around.  There’s a Jeep trail right behind our campground, so we went to check it out.  It was scenic in places, but mostly, it turned out to be a good “play road” for ATVs.  We encountered quite a few as we made our loop around.

Here we go!
Lots and lots and lots . . .
and LOTS of rocks on the first half of this drive!
But then it leveled out for the rest.
Very nice boondocking spot!
We drove past a bunch of those log tee-pees we’ve seen in the past.
This lake and development are just behind our campground, along the Jeep road we just completed!
There are some really NICE homes here!

After that, we drove the Trail Ridge Road back up to the Alpine Visitor Center, because we discovered that supposedly, you can see Wyoming from an overlook just before you get there.

See the white capped mountains in the distance, center of picture?
That’s Wyoming!
There’s a short trail here, so we checked it out.
Teeny weeny flowers up here on the Alpine Tundra.
I’da bet my firstborn that there were no lady bugs up here!
Good thing we’re not gamblers!
Unbelievable!

Once we walked the length of the trail there, we kept driving for a while on the Road, stopping for lunch at a scenic pull-out, battling the wind, and playing in the snow.  😊

BLAINE CHOOSE ONE OXOX
Such stunning views every where you look!
Remarkable!
Look what the change in elevation did to Blaine’s Dorito bag!
It made a loud ‘pop’ when he opened it! : )
We had to eat in the Jeep because the wind was so strong!

They tell you everywhere that the weather can change at any time – even snow any day of the year – and today it sure did! Change, not snow.

Look and hear how windy it was!

It was difficult to stand still, it was blowing so hard!
Busiest place in the park today.
On the right side of the cars is where the picas live and run around.

Time to turn around, and as we came back to where we’d spotted Wyoming, it started weathering!  It got really dark and rain/sleet/hail began pelting the Jeep, so we pulled over and enjoyed yet another means of God displaying His glory!

The drop on the right is ice!
The streaks in this picture are sleet!
It got sooo dark!
Large, very cold rain drops.
After we drove down the road a ways toward home, a circle of blue appeared,
but as you can see, dark clouds are still spilling rain on the right.

Tomorrow . . . is another day!
