Rainy Day Makes Good 08/29/20

Longview Campground, Lee’s Summit, Missouri

The righteous detest the dishonest; the wicked detest the upright.  ~ Proverbs 29:27

It was not a nice way to begin the day, as thunderstorms and heavy rain pummeled the area from here to Kansas.  Sounds like a long way, but it’s only about 15 miles.  😊

Still.  Today was supposed to be our BBQ picnic at Blaine’s cousins place.

Blaine and I hung around the coach all morning in the dark.  And I mean it was DARK!  At one point, I decided a picture needed to be taken.  The only lights we had on emanated from our laptops.

This is after it started brightening up a bit.

And then, about 1:00pm, I received a text from Aunt Sherri – – the picnic was a go!  We left about 3pm under cloudy but dry skies, across the border to Mike and Heather’s, armed with plenty of Crack to share.  For those of you who don’t know, or may not remember, it’s a great snack!  We got the recipe from Blaine’s sister-in-law, Donna a while back, and we’ve shared it with everyone we visit.  See recipe at the end.

Here’s the who’s who of who was there today – Uncle Nick and Aunt Sherri; oldest son, Matt and his kids, Lucy, Logan and Marlo; Mike & Heather and their kids, Owen and Emery.  And us out-of-towners, of course.

It had been years since we’d seen these family members, so it was good to catch up. We didn’t wear masks, but we did keep our distance, except for our picture with Uncle Nick and Aunt Sherri.

The BBQ came from Joe’s and was awesome!  Terrific company and wonderful food!  Who could ask for anything more?  We thoroughly enjoyed our visit!  Thank you to Mike and Heather for hosting everyone!
