Desoto State Park, Fort Payne, Alabama
The LORD God said, “It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make a helper suitable for him.” ~ Genesis 2:18
We set out today in search of an unfinished bridge. Doesn’t that sound exciting?!? There’s actually some history to it. 😊
Like most of our State and National Parks, the CCC (Civic Conservation Corps) was working in this Park. When the Japanese bombed Pearl Harbor, work in the Park stopped almost immediately, and most of those CCC boys went off to war instead. They walked away from the project they were working on, and the bridge was never finished. At least not as planned.
These days, the Park has a trail to go see it. The strange thing is, there were no trail markers! And it’s a 3.5 mile loop! The only indication that we were even remotely on the right path, was the fact that you could see an unmistakable trail through the woods. There weren’t even indicators at the few intersections we came to.
At least we had Blaine’s keen sense of direction along with us as well.
Once we returned home, Blaine decided to apply the windshield chip fix he bought the other day. I think it looks just the same. But then again, what was I expecting? It’s kinda like applying clear nail polish to a pair of nylon hose. 😊
And then we discovered why our door had been sticking . . .
So he fixed that too.
It’s good to live with Tim the Toolman!
Tomorrow we move close to my middle brother, David!
