Frosted Window Panes 12/01/20

Carson Village, Birmingham, Alabama

The Word became flesh and made His dwelling among us.  We have seen His glory, the glory of the one and only Son, Who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.  ~ John 1:14

Well, it’s the month of December!  The year 2020 is drawing to a close, and I’ll bet most of us are saying, “Yippee!!”  The number one gift on Christmas lists this year?  NO MORE MASKS!  Wouldn’t that be terrific?!?

We had ice on our windows when we got up today!

See! I told you it was cold here!
That bright dot in the center of the picture is the sun reflecting off the roof of the Jeep.
What Jeep?, you ask?
Trust me, it’s there!

Blaine went out to hook our water back up this morning, only to have to unhook it again.  Carson Village still had their water turned off.  A few hours later, after it warmed up a bit, he went out and tried again with success.

I had a long list of things to do today, especially since I don’t have a blog to work on, and Blaine got into planning our route for this coming summer.

We took a short break after lunch to get some exercise and drove to a nearby lake that has several paths you can walk.  We did them all – flat and up and down hills through the surrounding woods.

As soon as we arrived we saw some strange looking boats on the water. We wondered about them, and at the end of our walk, we passed some people who seemed to be locals (you can usually tell by the accents. 😊) and they told us they were dredging the bottom and trying to make it level and keeping the marshland from growing up.

There were these really nice swings along the shore, so we sat for a minute. When our son called to talk to Blaine, I took the time to look up what was going on at the lake. For a mere $450,000 the city paid a company to work on the lake, cleaning up sludge that had accumulated over the past 100 years. They tried several other things – like added fish, and another time, chemicals, but nothing worked.

These gorgeous Sweet Gum leaves were all along the trail.

Our short, “We’ll be gone about an hour.”  Turned into more than three.

We needed to stop in at WalMart for some things besides groceries, ended up getting groceries too, and then when they didn’t have all the ‘important’ grocery items, we had to go to Publix too.  Good thing I already had dinner mostly made.  😊

And, as we were making our way back to the Jeep at WalMart, I received a call from my brother.  Turns out he was there at the same exact time!  He recognized our Jeep.  How funny!

Here’s a little tip that was included in our December Newsletter from Carson Village.

Treat tired shoulders to this quick and easy stretch:  Stand in an open doorway and place your hands and forearms against the sides of the doorframe at shoulder level.  Slowly step forward with one foot until you feel a stretch in your chest and shoulders.  Hold for 20 seconds, then relax.  Repeat three times.

I figure, with all the Christmas activities – decorating, baking, wrapping, etc.  this will come in real handy!

This evening, we had fun FaceTiming with our three youngest!  Cooper had to go to bed, but we carried on with Kade and Harper.  As you can see, it was a bit of a silly time!  Fun!
