Not A Fan 12/11/20

Carson Village, Birmingham, Alabama

In the sixth month (of Elizabeth’s pregnancy), God sent the angel Gabriel to Nazareth, to a virgin pledged to be married to a man named Joseph, a descendant of David.  The virgin’s name was Mary.  ~ Luke 1:26-27

David’s working today, so we had to entertain ourselves – yet again.  (see the eyeroll?)

We returned to Turkey Creek again, but this time, we took on different trails.  Still, they’re through woods, so there’s not a lot of pictures.  😊

They should’ve put this up by the waterfall area.
Might’ve saved me some wet clothes the other day.
Then again, I probably would’ve ignored it anyway. : )
Not much of a trail, but we enjoyed the scenery!

The only place we saw people was near the waterfall.  I guess because if you’re looking for some excitement, there’s always some idiot trying to jump around on the slipper rocks and falling in.  😊

Into the woods we go!
Our trail is a narrow path between the trees.
See the blue markers?
I have yet to figure out why Blaine seems to enjoy taking pictures of me taking pictures. : )
Guess someone lost their scarf.
Not really a hiking-type of scarf though . . .
Pretty!!
How’da like that trail marker?!? : )
There were a bunch of these.
Certainly wouldn’t want that falling on your head! Ouch!

For dinner, the two of us decided to try the burgers we’ve been seeing ads for around here.  It’s a fast-food burger joint called Jack’s.  Their slogan is, “All About the South”.  We figured they must be good because there are stores all over the place, right?  And the ads look scrumptious!  And David had told us that “they’re okay”. Well, let me tell you right now.  It was an experience we don’t need to repeat.  Ever.  Oh, the Coke was good, but had waaay too much ice and too little of the bubbly brown stuff; and the buns were very fresh, and the burgers were piping hot.  So were Blaine’s fries.  Mine were a mix of cold (as in room temperature) and hot.  And they’re definitely not fresh cut potatoes.  They’re the fat, crinkle-cut frozen ones.  And they offer some off-brand of ketchup that wasn’t nearly as tasty as Heinz, or even Hunt’s.  And of course, the burgers looked absolutely nothing like the ones we saw advertised.  But that didn’t surprise us.  Hey, if anyone ever receives a sandwich that actually looks like advertised ones, give us a shout, ‘cuz we’d love to try it!  😊  Also, my mushroom swiss sauce had a ton of pepper in it.  In my humble opinion, it would’ve tasted much better without the pepper.

Still, it fed our bellies and was less expensive than the other burger places, and I guess that’s what’s most important.  The filling part, not the expense.  Although considering the product, the expense is good too.  😊
