“Do not be afraid, Mary, you have found favor with God. ~ Luke 1:30
This is the day we nearly met our Maker! And once again, the near miss had absolutely nothing to do with us! We were sitting first in line at a stop light on our way to David’s. The light changed to green and Blaine began to pull away; when he just happened to glance to his left, just as a white SUV came barreling by – through their red light! Blaine slammed on the brakes just in the nick of time, or they would’ve slammed into his door. At the speed they were going, it’s certain Blaine would’ve been rejoicing in Heaven, and quite possibly me as well. And then we watched, with shaking hands, as they pulled into a gas station. Unbelievable! Our guardian angels sure do work a lot of overtime for us! Thank You, Father, for Your constant watch care!
The reason we were out in mid-morning was because we were going to visit David’s new house. There was an issue with the electrical panel he wanted Blaine to take a look at, so he took the day off work. While they were playing around, I wandered through the house, deemed it very nice, and went outside to sit on his new porch swing (Well, not sure if he’s allowed to keep it, but still . . .), called Mom and gave her the rundown of the house, during which, she gave her approval as well. As we were chatting, I happened to notice the windchimes by the swing. VERY WEIRD! Made from bones! Really?!? Mom wanted to know if they made a clacking sound, but there was no wind today, and I didn’t touch ‘em. You be the judge. Would you want these hanging on you front porch? Or anywhere else around your house?
And then the guys were done. Blaine had taken care of the loose wire in the electrical panel, and we were on our way back to David’s, where we then went our separate ways for the afternoon.
Blaine chauffeured me around to four different stops as we made our way back home. Meaning, he didn’t get out of the Jeep until the final stop. First up, Staples. After three tries, Gabriel came through for us! The picture looks great and we can’t wait to get it into our frame.
Next was the Post Office to mail the last of our Christmas cards. A few had enclosed gifts and I was concerned that they might need extra postage, so I waited 10-15 minutes to find out. Good thing I did, because it cost me an additional $.60. 😊
And then Kohl’s, so I could pick up a Christmas sweater (a nice one, not an ugly one), because all my Christmas stuff is waiting for me in Ohio. Of course, being in the store alone meant I could shop around some, so I picked up two more things before I got in line. What can I say? Blaine should’ve come in with me. 😊
And finally, yet another stop at WalMart. Ya know. Back when we were still working, I somehow managed to only shop once a week – usually all the types of shopping. I don’t know what it is that makes us go several times a week now. It must be Blaine.
In the afternoon, Blaine and I dismantled our old picture and got the mat ready to receive the new one. It turned out to be a bigger project than we were expecting! Guess I used some really good craft glue.
David came for a dinner of pulled pork sandwiches, potato salad and baked beans. It was pretty darn good, if I do say so myself. 😊
Oh! And we noticed that our neighbor, Janet came home today! We didn’t have a chance to talk with her, but she managed to walk from car to door without much difficulty. Bet she feels like she got kicked in the gut by a mule! Covid makes it impossible for us to be neighborly and take her some soup, so we just continue to pray and will talk when we see them out.
