Punxsutawney Phil was first asked to predict the weather in 1887 – 134 years ago – and the Inner Circle insists that there has only ever been one. Funny. He didn’t look that old to us when we watched him on the Weather Channel. Maybe they have great makeup artists? Anyway, in all those years, he’s predicted 104 forecasts of more winter, and 20 early springs. Somehow, nine years or so of records are missing . . .
As far as accuracy goes, he’s only correct about 39% of the time. Wonder if age is a contributing factor? This year’s prognostication is for 6 more weeks of winter weather. Bet some of you up north aren’t too happy about that, but hey, he’s been wrong a lot, so don’t dig yourself in just yet!

Here in Florida the wind blew so hard and constant today that the pocket doors on the bathroom swayed throughout the day. Brought to mind the classic song by The Association –
Who’s tripping down the streets of the city, smilin’ at everybody she see? Who’s reachin’ out to capture a moment, everyone knows it’s Windy!
It was a bright, sunny day however, so we went for a walk this morning and discovered that it’s not nearly as windy away from home. Manatee Lake was extremely choppy however, and why they named it that is beyond us, because there are no manatees in it, nor have there ever been. Hmmm . . . . someone’s idea of a joke? Or maybe to draw tourists back in the day?

I only have one more thing for today. Ever think about what your favorite smells/scents are?
Mine’s baking bread, grilling beef, and oranges. Figures they’re all food! But I like a lot of smells – including, but certainly not limited to, puppy breath and ozone (you know, what the air smells like when it’s going to storm?)
