Then Jacob continued on his journey and came to the land of the eastern peoples. There he saw a well in the field, with three flocks of sheep lying near it because the flocks were watered from that well. The stone over the mouth of the well was large. ~ Genesis 29:1-2 At first glance, these verses seem inconsequential, but being as how this is God’s Word, of course every word is important. In this case, we’ll see that shepherds have brought their sheep to the well, but none have opened it up yet. This is so much like many unbelievers! They show up at the Well (God/Jesus), but are hesitant to open it for one reason or another – despite knowing the relief that lies within. It’s also like many believers. We too, show up at the Well but hesitate to gain relief and nourishment from it, choosing instead to do things our own way, or seek counsel or guidance from other sources – friends, family, books, speakers . . .
Just as I promised, we didn’t do much today. We took a long walk through the various campgrounds within the Park (they’re all connected). Then we drove to the dam that creates this reservoir, to take a peek.
We were thinking we’d like an evening paddle, but the winds never died down, so we ended up staying home and watching a lovely sunset for a bit.
