Time Off Road     09/13/21 – 10/25/21

Countryside Campground, Mogadore, Ohio

That night Jacob got up and took his two wives, his two maidservants and his eleven sons and crossed the ford of the Jabbok.  After he had sent them across the stream, he sent over all his possessions.  So Jacob was left alone . . . ~ Genesis 32:22-24a        Jacob finds himself alone again, as he was at the beginning of this 20-year journey.  Where do you turn when you find/feel yourself alone?  Do you turn to bitterness and anger?  Do you turn melancholic ‘Woe is me!’?  Or do you remind yourself that you are never alone?  God is with us.  Emmanuel.

Well now that we’re back on the road, let’s see if I can remember how to do this blogging stuff!

Our six weeks at home sure went by quickly!  We spent our days spending time with family and friends, and Blaine spent a LOT of time working on things ‘around the house’.  He changed both the motor and transmission oil in the motorhome himself this time, swapping out six gallons of motor oil and five gallons of transmission oil.  He also changed two fuel filters, the air brake cannisters, greased all the grease fittings, changed the generator oil (just one gallon), and washed and waxed the entire 40’ bus!  Not counting the wash/wax, he saved us over $600 doing it himself!  I’m certain he did other things as well, because I left him home alone a lot as I went about galivanting around the countryside.

Altogether, we put 2,300 miles on our Jeep!  Mostly because our kids live about 40-45 minutes away from each other, and everyone else.

Since I didn’t take any notes, I’m just gonna put in some of the pictures we took, and say that we feel very grateful for the family and friends God has chosen to bless us with!

We had both sets of grandkids over to spend weekends with us.  No!  Not all at the same time!  Not when we live in a bus with a corridor!

And a field of Monarchs!
Just wanted to share this great (and really simple) idea for table favors!

“One of the things we enjoyed was a visit to Great Wolf Lodge Water Park with #2 son Kyle and his family.  Personally, we’re not much for water parks, but we had a great time with the grandkids!”

This sums up how we all felt on the way home! : )
Kade’s 1st Grade picture.
Don’t know if the other kids got pictures, this is the only one we received.
This was an entire story in itself!
I was asked to bring dessert to a gathering of friends.
I chose to bake an apple pie. I’m not a pie baker.
I think the temperature listed on the recipe was wrong.
It took me four hours. Over three of that was baking.
It turned out well. End of story. 🙂
For those of you who’ve read “Cat in the Hat”, what does this remind you of? LOL
They were waiting for us to show up and take them out. We were scheduled to stay and play with all three kids and have dinner, but Cooper was running a really high temperature, so we took the kids to Bob Evans (because every single fast-food dining room was closed!), and then to a playground.
Two days later, Cooper was fine. : )
More baby pictures!
You’d think I was the only one who held him. . . .

An overnight with the three oldest, where we went fungus hunting again, played a game that Cody created – all by himself!, did puzzles, learned how they’re teaching multiplication in school these days (INSANE!!) and fed them well!

And that’s all folks!!
