When Jacob heard that his daughter Dinah had been defiled, his sons were in the fields with his livestock; so he kept quiet about it until they came home. ~ Genesis 34:5        And now we have Jacob’s sin.  Maybe he didn’t reach out because he felt he needed the force of his sons behind him, but he had plenty of servants who could’ve gone out and call them home immediately.  It sort of seems to me that Jacob was more concerned about his business relationship with Hamor than he was about his own daughter, because we’ll learn later that Dinah was within the home of Shechem for days until the violent resolution of this grave injustice.  How often do we put off confrontation in a matter that should require immediate attention?  How often are we afraid?  How often do we forget Who walks with us?  The One Who fights for us, and avenges us in His time and in His way?  We don’t see where Jacob ever inquired of God for either wisdom or aid.  Did Jacob know his sons well enough to know that they would fight for him, so he didn’t need to get involved?  Was it the social norm for the older brothers to defend their younger siblings’ (especially sisters) honor?  Still.  Jacob is the head of the household and should take charge.  Instead, he chose to leave his daughter in the hands of a foreigner who took her by force. We’ll discover that all the talking between the two nations was between Jacob’s sons and Shechem and his father, Hamor.  I read that Simeon and Levi (Dinah’s brothers, and sons of Leah) were most likely only in their early twenties at this time.

Good morning, Jellico!

Yes.  I know I made up a word.  But hey. When you have nothing interesting to talk about, ya gotta do something! Domesticational = when you spend your day doing domestic chores like laundry, it’s a domesticational day.  Which was in interesting experience in itself.  We drove to town to the only laundromat, and while the washers and driers were clean, the place looked like the beginnings of a horder house.  It was also interesting to listen to the other patrons talk all kinds of conspiracy theories, especially the guy who claimed he was a dentist so he had access to all kinds of information that the rest of us aren’t privy to.  If you’da seen him, you might’ve questioned his degree.  But who am I to judge a stranger?

This place was right next to the laundry. We suspect a guy owns it, what do you think?

Anyway, we started our day crisp and foggy.  There was actually ice on the Jeep’s windows!

By the afternoon, it was plenty nice enough to venture out for an hour walk around the campground.

There are actually probably close to 300 geese who call this place home!
Pretty reflection!
