Jacob came home to his father Isaac in Mamre, near Kiriath Arba (that is, Hebron), where Abraham and Isaac had stayed. Isaac lived a hundred and eighty years. Then he breathed his last and died and was gathered to his people, old and full of years. And his sons Esau and Jacob buried him. ~ Genesis 35:27-29 One of the significant things about Hebron is that it’s where David began his reign as king of Israel – some 800-900 years from now. Esau and Jacob are united in the care of their father, and we learn later that they took him to the same cave in Hebron where Abraham, Sarah, Isaac’s wife Rebekah, and Leah (Jacob’s first and covenant wife) are buried. For Esau, the journey home was roughly 100 miles. For Jacob, a mere 13. We don’t know how long the sons were with their father before he died.
What could possibly be less interesting that what I shared in the last post? You’re about to find out! We spent our Thursday cleaning the inside and outside of the coach and making some Christmas presents. I can’t say what because it’s possible that this would be the time family members would choose to read my posts. Of course, I can’t say that they don’t read it, most of them just don’t comment on it, so I don’t know for sure. And so I ramble on and on and on and on. Mostly because I’m waiting for pictures from the 28th to upload into the blog, and I can’t do anything else until they do. Sigh . . . .
