Poche’s RV Resort, Breaux Bridge, Louisiana

Now Joseph was well-built and handsome, and after a while his master’s wife took notice of Joseph and said, “Come to bed with me!”  But he refused.  “With me in charge…my master does not concern himself with anything in the house; everything he owns he has entrusted to my care.  No one is greater in this house than I am.  My master has withheld nothing from me except you, because you are his wife.  How then could I do such a wicked thing and sin against God?”  And though she spoke to Joseph day after day, he refused to go to bed with her or even be with her. ~ Genesis 39:6b-10      Another test for Joseph.  He could’ve succumbed for any number of reasons – lust, pride, power…  Instead, he demonstrated loyalty to the man keeping him in captivity, and most importantly, to God Himself.  Joseph faced evil day after day.  He faced, and turned away from, great temptation day after day.  He tried to reason with her first, and when that did no good, he avoided her and the ever-present temptation to sin.  How many of us have this strength of will?  Did you notice that he mentioned that he’d be sinning against God?  How often do we fail to see that our sin is against God; more so than anyone else?

As uneventful as our previous move was, today was very stressful.

But before we get to that, let me tell you about our interesting neighbor.  I spoke with her while we were getting the coach ready to move out.  She’s roughly our age.  She’s originally from the Netherlands, where at least during her school years, they were all required to learn four languages!  For the past 30 years, she’s been an RN in California until she got fed up with how the hospital was dealing with their staff during Covid and retired.  She now travels around the states with her two dogs, and says it’s more expensive than she originally thought.

Putting it on “paper” doesn’t sound all that interesting.  It must’ve been the way she told it.  😊

Back to moving day.

In our 275-mile, five-hour drive, there was more braking and horn blasting from Blaine than I’ve ever experienced in one drive.  There were several much too close for comfort calls as well! Which explains the braking and honking.  And it wasn’t just when we drove through Houston!  One of the worst times was as we were driving into the Texas Welcome Center.  We were on a narrow, one-way drive headed into the truck parking part, and all of a sudden, Blaine looked in his side mirror (which wasn’t necessary) and discovered a pick-up truck trying to squeeze between us and a fairly high curb!  Half the guy’s truck was actually on top of the curb!  Another instance of horn blasting!  We don’t know where he ended up, but at least it wasn’t in our basement!  People are insane!

Off we go!
Good thing we always pray for God’s protection before we leave!
Look how steep that incline is!
“You can trust your car to the man who wears the star! The big, bright Texaco Star!!!”
Love those old jingles!
Nowadays, I don’t think jingle writers have a job anymore.
I don’t think I’ve heard a commercial jingle for a very long time. : (
We thought Louisiana had a lot of refineries, etc., but this part of Texas near Houston, has them beat by a mile!
The backup on the eastbound lane was miles long! There was a truck turned over in the middle of the lanes. Have no idea why. It wasn’t icy, or raining, or even windy! Maybe it happened in an accident, but we didn’t see any other vehicles. So glad we headed west!
They have really high exit numbers because I-10 travels over 800 miles across Texas!
Another steep incline!
Gotta get those ships in and out under the roads . . .
This was a confusing and scary time!
They created a detour that the gps didn’t have, and they had precious few and far between signs!
Fortunately, we figured it out in time! Whew!
Look at all these roads! That’s Houston in the distance.
These next three pictures were taken as we passed a scrap yard. So creative!
All the vehicles are life-sized real cars, trucks and planes!
The last one is King Kong, who was also quite huge!
Off the highway, Blaine was able to breathe a little easier!
Inside Brazos Bend State Park, heading to the check-in.

So grateful that we made it safely to our new destination!

Brazos Bend State Park, Needville, Texas

Here’s how it’s pronounced: BRA (as in ‘brat’) sews. Brazos Bend
It’s rare that we have to wait in line to check in, but today we did.
Gave Blaine a chance to relax.
It was a good little drive to the campground.
Here we are!

We set up and then rode out on our bikes to check out a portion of this place.  It’s going to be a wonderful stay, full of wildlife and beauty!

Yikes! It’s good to get the lay of the land when you enter a new place. : )
Our first gator!
You know you must be in a place with a lot of Hispanic immigrants/visitors when you find these signs on the back of the bathroom stall doors!
That’s a whistling duck. We saw quite a few of them this evening.
They don’t really sound like their whistling, but they’re pretty noisy with an unusual sound.
We stood at an observation place and watched as large flocks of birds flew over us – all going the same general direction. We’re guessing home to roost for the night?
Sun is setting, we best be gettin’ back home.
