Some time later, the cupbearer and the baker of the king of Egypt offended their master…Pharaoh was angry with his two officials…and put them in custody in the house of the captain of the guard (Potiphar), in the same prison where Joseph was confined.  The captain of the guard assigned them to Joseph and he attended them. ~ Genesis 40:1-4a     So how could these men have offended Pharaoh?  We don’t know.  I DO know that at least part of the cupbearer’s job was to taste the wine in the presence of the king to prove it wasn’t poisoned.  I also tried looking up a possible candidate for Pharaoh at this time.  There were a couple of thoughts on this, but it seems most believe he began with Sesostris III (1878 – 1841BCE).  Joseph lived in Egypt for 71 years, so he most likely died around 1805BCE under the reign of Amenemhet III (1841 – 1797BCE).  The most important things to note here, is that these two men were placed under Joseph’s care, and by Potiphar himself.  One has to believe that Potiphar still respects Joseph, despite the fact that he put him in prison for allegedly assaulting his wife.

Today is Super Bowl Sunday.  Bengals vs Rams.  In spite of the fact that many from Ohio would disagree, we rooted for the Bengals, because, hey, at least they’re from Ohio, right?  It was a close and exciting game, but unfortunately, they just couldn’t pull it off.  Rams won 23-20.  ☹

Before the game, we listened to our Pastor Mike back home teach from Philippians via live-streaming, and then we went riding again.  In the cold today, but the sun was in full brilliance, so that helped a lot.  The places we went, and the things we saw, were pretty much what we’ve been doing and seeing all week.  We love it, but there’s no need for pictures – at least not many.

These are whistling ducks.
Since we’ve never been able to get a decent picture, I found one online. : )

We discovered a nutria laying across a log. : )
Why is all the wildlife so far away? : (
Blaine enjoyed making fun of my outfit today.
I don’t know why.
I think it was the socks on the outside of my pants that threw him off. : )

And then we came home to complete preparations for Super Bowl food.  One of the necessities of life!  I miss the good ol’ days when I spent the entire game preparing snacks for my three men (and sometimes their friends), stepping into the family room to check out all the great commercials.  With it just being Blaine and I, I have to severely curtail our snack options.  And the commercials just aren’t as good as they used to be.

We ate shrimp/crab ball, ham-stuffed mushrooms (the best!), air-fried wings, and of course finished off the evening with that chocolate caramel fantasy (Is it a cake? Pie?  Just a dessert?)

We gorged ourselves and enjoyed every minute of it!

HAM-STUFFED MUSHROOMS

24 whole fresh mushrooms

2 T. onion, finely diced

2 T. butter – DIVIDED

¼ C. ham, finely diced

¼ C. parmesan cheese

1 T. flour

1/8 t. salt

½ C. milk

¼ C. bread crumbs

Remove stems from mushrooms.  Finely chop stems.  Cook stems and onion in 1 T. butter until tender.  Remove from heat.   Stir in ham and parmesan cheese.  Set aside.  In a small saucepan, melt 1 T. butter.  Stir in flour and salt and mix well.  Add milk all at once.  Cook and stir until thickened and bubble.  Remove from heat.  Stir in ham mixture.  Fill mushroom caps with the mixture.  Sprinkle with bread crumbs.  Place on a greased shallow baking dish.

Bake at 425 degrees for 8-12 minutes or until mushrooms are tender.
