When they came to their father Jacob in the land of Canaan, they told him all that had happened to them. They said, “The man who is lord over the land spoke harshly to us and treated us as though we were spying on the land. But we said to him, ‘We are honest men; we are not spies. We were twelve brothers, sons of one father. One is no more, and the youngest is now with our father in Canaan.’ Then the man…said…’This is how I will know…Leave one of your brothers here with me, and take food for your starving households and go. But bring your youngest brother to me so I will know what you are not spies but honest men. Then I will give your brother back to you, and you can trade in the land.” ~ Genesis 42:29-34 At least some of these eight men, we know for certain are not honest men. Interesting that they should claim so. Do you think they believed it? Do you think their father believes it? They’ve all sold their brother into slavery and lied to their father about what happened to him. One was prepared to manipulate the situation in order to pull the wool over his father’s eyes. Two used God’s covenant promise seal and lied to another nation, then swooped in and massacred them all. Another took up with what he believed was a prostitute, but was instead his daughter-in-law whom he’d lied to for years. And these are just the things we know about. How honest do you think they are? What’s your definition of honesty? Do you believe ‘honesty is always the best policy’? Or do you only apply it when it suits your purpose? Or do you expect it from everyone else, but not from yourself as you make excuses, whether externally or internally? How often do you try to lie to God, knowing it’s impossible?
Wagoner Laundry Mat. We knew going in that it only rated a 3 out of 5 stars, but it was a half hour closer than the next closest one, so we took a peek. The insides of the washers and driers were clean, but that’s it. The rest was absolutely filthy! None of the washers were wiped down on the tops or sides and the floor was disgusting. We just made certain nothing touched anything but the insides. The odd thing was, there was an attendant working there all day. She was helpful and nice when one of our chosen washers wouldn’t start up, but then she sat and knitted in front of the TV the entire time we were there. Wouldn’t you think she’d be responsible for wiping things off and sweeping? And even if she’s not, wouldn’t you think she’d take it upon herself to do it?
That’s about it for our Thursday, except to say that the lake was even more elevated today than yesterday. Seems strange since we’ve not had any rain for several days. Guess it takes a while for the water to make its way here?
Friday, we went out and picked up a few miles on trails we missed the other day. Yep. Believe it or not, we actually missed some! We felt much better when we got home this time. 😊
Some are sure a lot different than we’ve seen elsewhere. Thought you’d enjoy seeing them. : )
As you can tell from the clothing, it was quite a bit chillier today! But we didn’t let that stop us. It was windy again, but starting tonight and through tomorrow, they’ve said “Calm”! Wunderbar! (That’s Deutsch for ‘wonderful’)
Not because of the water, but because there were no signs pointing us up the hill.
Blaine walked up the hill before discovering the trail.
They really need a sign!
The black things were obviously some kind of critters,
and when Blaine tugged at the ‘intestine’ part with a stick, it was slimy.
There was nothing going on. : )
There might not have been anything there, but it sure did smell rank!
He was trying to chew his way out through the wire.
You can see where he tried to chew his way out through the wood in various places. : )
The weatherman was wrong. We listened to them. We didn’t put our slide in. We paid for it with lack of sleep as the ‘calm’ wind whipped around our slide toppers – – yet again. We certainly hope Missouri (our next stop) doesn’t have wind. It’s like everything else – all things in moderation. We’ve had wind since we arrived in Rockport, Texas the middle of February.
If I sound grouchy, blame the wind. . . .
