Now Jacob sent Judah ahead of him to Joseph to get directions to Goshen. ~ Genesis 46:28 Imagine! A man asking for directions! Sorry. I couldn’t resist. Notice that once again, it’s Judah assuming the lead role as the firstborn son, even though he’s fourth in line. Remember, Reuben lost it when he slept with one of his father’s concubines (Genesis 35:22). Presumably (because Scripture doesn’t specifically say), Simeon (#2) and Levi (#3) lost any claim they had after their shameful abuse of God’s covenant of circumcision (Genesis 34). Judah has his own list of sins on record, but they weren’t enough to cause him to forfeit his ‘next-in-line’ status. Besides, as we look into the future, we know that God’s Sovereign Plan is to lift up the line of Judah until Jesus is born – about 1,800 years in the making.
Our 129-mile, nearly 3-hour drive today began with fog, but it was only up in the hills, so we were fine. We were running low on fuel, but not wanting to pay full price, we only paid for 40 gallons, at the bargain price of “only” $5.89/gallon, $5.41 with our discount card.
Traffic and weather weren’t really much of an issue until we got close to DC. Still, there weren’t any problems, just slow traffic. Praise God!

We’re just a short drive and subway/train ride from the National Mall area, which is where most of the museums and monuments are centered.
We’ve been sooo looking forward to our time here! Hopefully, the protests about Roe v Wade being overturned today (6-4) won’t put a damper on things and we can tour our nation’s capital safely.
