Then he (Jacob/Israel) blessed Joseph and said, “May the God before whom my fathers Abraham and Isaac walked, the God who has been my shepherd all my life to this day, the Angel who has delivered me from all harm – may He bless these boys. May they be called by my name and the names of my fathers Abraham and Isaac, and may they increase greatly upon the earth.” ~ Genesis 48:15-16 Did you notice that Jacob has counted the angel who wrestled with him (chapter 32) as God? This is not because angels are godly. This is because the Angel was most likely a preincarnate Jesus. This blessing over Joseph’s sons is not only his means of officially adopting them into the family as his sons, it’s also Jacob’s salvation testimony.
On the 19th, we spent about two hours biking around again. I didn’t take pictures because you’ve already seen the area. Our bodies were icky, Icky, ICKY!! when we got back! It is sooo hot every day now. But at least we burned some calories so we could better enjoy our homemade pizza and Coke for dinner. 😊
The 20th was moving day – to the Assateague Island area! Hopefully it will be cooler by the water. Unfortunately, Blaine was only able to get a campsite in an expensive private park for two nights – a year in advance! So we really only have one day in the National Park. Much better than nothing, though.
Before we left, we rose early and kayaked out to enjoy a close-up view of the cement ships!
We weren’t the only ones up early this morning. Next door, the little yellow lab puppy was also up – tied to the underbelly of their fifth wheel. Dad came out and gave her food and water. Blaine saw him actually gently shove her face into the water bowl in an effort to get her to drink, but she didn’t want it. Honestly, I can’t wait to move away from here as I watch the entire family of seven constantly ignore her. Even the kids don’t want anything to do with her. What kids ignore a puppy? And all that smugness I felt the other day when they put her inside and later took her with them, evaporated the following days when they discovered that they could put her under that fifth wheel and the Ranger wouldn’t see her. Why even bother to have a pet if they’re going to ignore it?
But today, we enjoyed watching her escape from the pen Dad put her in after her early morning constitutional. Apparently, the family wasn’t ready to rise yet, so he put her in a soft-sided collapsible pen, closed it up and covered it with a sheet. He must’ve left the side open though because it wasn’t long after he went back inside, before she was out free! We almost cheered! 😊 And unbelievably, she never left their campsite. She wandered around, played with the black tank cover that was dangling in the air from underneath, and picked up and tossed around a couple of shoes (but never chewed on them). Even when we left and spoke to her, she never left their site.
When we came home, the pup was nowhere in sight, but Dad was sitting in a chair reading a Bible. Blaine asked, “Do you feel better about them now?” Ummm . . . . no. It actually made me feel more irritated, so I had to talk myself down. Maybe they’re new Christians and haven’t learned about Love for people and God’s Creation yet…. Maybe he’s looking for guidance on how to care for His creatures…. Eventually I came around to leaving him – and the rest of the family – in God’s very capable hands.
And late this morning, we left for good.
Back to our morning on the water! It was a perfect morning to seek adventure on the high seas!
Okay. So it wasn’t quite that adventurous, but we had a grand time! So grateful the winds died down so we could paddle! The waters were still a bit choppy when we headed out, and a few broke over the front, soaking our seats, but that was half the fun!
Pelicans, a variety of gulls, and even pigeons.
Stinky birds!
We weren’t sure if we could make it, given the choppiness of the waters when we first went out,
but it had calmed enough to where we had no problem.
but the waters on the other side weren’t suitable for us and our low-riding boat.
Those are freighters lined up out there.
Sounds like it was a long time, but it was only a couple of minutes. : )
We returned just in time, because more and more fishermen were heading out.
Back home, we rinsed off and packed up.
It was a good driving day today – not much traffic, flat, and 10.1mpg! It was short too – just 95 miles that took us under two hours.

Because we arrived early this afternoon and are only staying two nights, we didn’t do much in the set up department, freeing us to go get Blaine a much needed haircut and a short drive to the Assateague Island National Park Visitor Center, so we can best plan our only day in the Park.
It’s at her house! Surprised us. : )
We’re excited about tomorrow! Bring on the wild horses!!
