The two kings (Epiphanes and Philometer), with their hearts bent on evil, will sit at the same table and lie to each other, but to no avail, because an end will still come at the appointed time. The king of the North (Antiochus IV Epiphanes) will return to his own country with great wealth, but his heart will be set against the holy covenant (Israel). He will take action against it and then return to this own country. ~ Daniel 11:27-28
- At this time (170BC), Ptolemy VI Philometer (King of the South) was living in Epiphanes’ custody (King of the North)
- Upon Rome’s intervention on Egypt’s behalf (Philometer), the two kings were forced to work out a treaty, but neither planned to uphold it
- Epiphanes was enraged at Rome’s interference and took it out on the people of Jerusalem as he headed home
- Another incident that fueled his rage was when he learned that the Israelites believed him dead and had overthrown the high priest, whom Epiphanes had appointed, and replaced him with the rightful high priest
- In 169BC, Epiphanes plundered the temple and massacred many Jews in Jerusalem

It was agreed upon by both parties that we’d take a one to two mile hike because we’d spent the cooler hours of the morning sitting around, and taking care of a few small chores.
So off we went.
We hadn’t walked far (about 5 minutes) when we discovered the path was consistently wide, flat and firm. It was then agreed upon by both parties that bicycles would be a better way to navigate the trail around Dixie Lake, with the added bonus of taking a relatively short amount of time. In addition, there was plenty of shade from the trees around the perimeter. And you also have the breeze from riding.
I guess they have a view of Dixie Lake, but we can’t be sure.
There were trees on the other side of the trail.
But then one party suggested we leave the trail and ride in the road. The other party, being the quiet, submissive wife she is, agreed to follow along.
Actually, to be honest, it was more competitive stubbornness to prove I don’t need an e-bike than anything else. 😊
What felt like hours of spinning class in intense heat, was actually only just over an hour.
Man am I getting old!
Of course, coming back was another story . . .
At least I can proudly confess, I never once had to walk my bike!
They were mounted on their trucks.
I sure hope they take them down when they drive!
Still, it was a good ride and we learned some stuff and reminded ourselves of some stuff we learned four years ago. And afterwards, I was able to luxuriate in the wonderful shower that’s right across from our motorhome. Ahhhhhh . . . . .
