Again, the devil took Him to a very high mountain and showed Him all the kingdoms of the world and their splendor. “All of this I will give You,” he said, “If You will bow down and worship me.” ~ Matthew 4:8-9 The Trinity made everything Satan was showing Jesus. So how is it that Satan can offer this to Him? I don’t know when, or why, or how, but at some point, God chose to allow Satan to work and move here. There are several scriptures that attest to him being labeled the ‘prince of this world’ or words along those lines (see John 12:31, 14:30, 16:11; II Corinthians 4:4; Ephesians 2:2). Being prince means there’s still a King. Which means that although God allows it, He’s still Sovereign. (Biblical Sovereignty = God’s absolute right and authority to do/allow all things according to His own good pleasure) Satan may feel powerful, but there is nothing he can do without God’s permission. (see Job 1 and Luke 22:31-32)
Our hearts stopped for a few minutes as we were packing up to move on Maundy Thursday. That full-length slide decided it wanted us to stay! Blaine managed to overpower it with his electrician skills and we were soon on our way, 134 uneventful miles. (Those of you who’ve been following a while may remember how it didn’t want to come in just as we were leaving for our Disney World trip, and we had to spend that week in a smaller area until we could get it fixed.)
Thursday began with our last walk on the beach. It’s so amazingly awesome to share the sunrise with the Father alongside the person you share your life with!
We had a few activities in mind for Thursday through Sunday, but then the weather turned on us. We still managed a couple of things, but Saturday and Sunday were stay-at-home days; except for Easter Worship at the Skidaway Island Baptist Church.
That being the case, and for the sake of time, I squished four days into one post. Blaine will be happy. 😊
Skidaway Island State Park, Savannah, Georgia
We’ve been here before, but honestly, I can’t remember it at all. Blaine informed me that I was very sick last time we were here, so maybe that’s why? Anyhoo. We’re close to Savannah, and although we’ve visited that fair Southern city several times, we’ll be heading into town again just to fill a day and see what’s going on.
April 7th, Good Friday – After we spent our morning reflecting on the suffering of Jesus on our behalf and rejoicing in what His death means for us, we took our bikes out to enjoy the Skidaway Island Park and also the neighborhood. There are many affluent gated communities just outside the Park boundary. So many in fact, they put in sidewalks and tiny stop signs to accommodate all the golf carts that tool around to neighbors and the Publix grocery store, as well as other shops, banks, etc. Ya gotta watch for them, because they really don’t like yielding – or even slowing down – for bikers!
There’s a bunch of fiddler crabs crawling around in front of me. : )
It’s a carpenter bee!
Kept hovering around so much I got a picture of it!
Looks like it has a big yellow mouth and yellow eyes. : )
And then the weather took a turn.
We suddenly dropped from sunny and mid to upper 80’s with lows only down to 70; and now we’re sitting at a late day high of 61! And rain. And breezy.
So what did we do?
April 8th, Holy Saturday – We stayed inside since it rained off and on all day, listening to the sounds of our neighbor’s dogs barking all day long because the neighbors were gone. It was just lovely. She said sarcastically. We turned up our music and later in the evening, the TV.
I tried making my first coconut cream pie, but it’s not very good. It has virtually no flavor. I did my research and the recipe had over 100 reviews and all were positive. I don’t get it. But I’ve since uncovered another and at some point one day (probably when we’re home and someone else can help eat it 😊) I’ll give it one more try. We had chicken parm made in the air fryer that was not quite as tasty as frying in oil, but that’s kinda the point, right? Eat healthier whenever possible? Plus, it was raining and we fry in the electric skillet outside. Never in this small space.
There was also the requisite paperwork and blogging, and at the end of the day, Blaine colored my hair.
April 9th, EASTER – HE IS RISEN!! Christ the Lord is risen today! Hallelujah!
Worship this morning was with the friendly congregants of Skidaway Island Baptist Church. It was an interesting start to the Easter service, as everyone was all situated, then asked to go outside and process in as we sang “Christ the Lord is risen today”. The problem was, it seemed no one had the words memorized after the first stanza. If they do this again, it might be wise to leave a few worship leaders outside to help us out. 😊 The message was on after the resurrection. Jesus’ command for us to go and tell.
I have no pictures and not much in the way of comments. We ate our main meal at 1:00pm – ham, lyonese potatoes, fresh broccoli and deviled eggs, and of course that blecky, tasteless coconut cream pie. Just can’t bring ourselves to throw it out since it’s edible (barely). 😊
So proud of our sons and daughters-in-law!
Tomorrow we should be able to leave the coach. We hope!
