Baking, Blogging And Beignets 07/29/20

A rich man may be wise in his own eyes, but a poor man who has discernment sees through him.  ~ Proverbs 28:11

Good morning, Littleton!

Today was spent in various domestic activities.  Sort of.  I sat around outside this morning talking on the phone, while Blaine was inside discovering how much he detests blogging, but gaining new personal insight on how it’s done and why it takes so long.  I say, it’s good to learn new things!

Then, it was my turn to blog and do some research of things to do around the area, and he baked high elevation chocolate chip cookies.  The Nestles package said to make a few changes, and he did that.  They’re not as good as the originals, but they turned out well.  We determined the reason they’re not as good is because one of the changes was to decrease both sugar amounts.  Well, no wonder!

Dinner out tonight!  Cajun!  It was really good, but not quite Louisiana good.  The hardest part was deciding what to get, because we love most of it.  However, we were helped along with a free sample board they offered.  How great is that!

It’s not a very good picture.
They all look pretty much the same, just trust me, they’re not. : )
Chicken and sausage jambalya and seafood gumbo for Blaine (front),
same jambalya and crawfish e’touffe for me.

And as stuffed as we were, we made room for beignets.  You have to!  I think it says somewhere in scripture (the book of Hezekiah, if I’m not mistaken) that passing up a beignet is sinful.  😊

These were also good, and freshly made, but again, they’re not Louisiana good.  The ones in NOLA (New Orleans Louisiana), are more donut-ty, with gobs of powdered sugar on them.  The ones they serve here are more like flatbread with some powdered sugar on them.  Still, The Lost Cajun gets props for frying them up fresh while we waited. So if you like fried dough and powdered sugar (and who doesn’t?), you’d like these!

Yummmm!!
