We decided our first outing should be fairly close to home, so we chose Salt Fork State Park which is about 80 miles away. Blaine called ahead and reserved a site for us, just to make sure we got one that was easily accessible. The park ended up being pretty full, so we were glad we called!
Blaine was able to back it in on the first try, and very little help from Terri.
Salt Fork is a large park with lots to do. We didn’t want to mess with the Jeep on our first trip, but we did take our bikes. Unfortunately, when we got there, we discovered that Blaine’s had a flat so we really weren’t able to take full advantage of the trails and things while we were there.
Other than forgetting several VERY important things (like a book and shampoo!), things went smoothly and we really can’t wait to live full time in our new coach! All the systems worked as they were supposed to and we truly enjoyed our time.
One interesting aspect of our weekend was the 17-year cicadas. Below is a video you can listen to if you’re curious how loud they were! There’s also a picture of one that found it’s way onto Blaine’s shoe. 34 years ago when they came up out of the ground, we were camping with Blaine’s parents and our cocker spaniel. The locusts were everywhere and she ran crazy gobbling them up! 17 years ago, we had taken the boys to summer church camp that was set in the woods and again, the noise was incredible!
We’re anxious to start planning our next trip!
