The next move was into an efficiency hotel, Woodspring Suites where we spent the month of April. (More organization required as we had to determine the bare minimum to take with us!)
Another God thing, as we only paid $29/night! Yes, you read it right! For what it is (an efficiency apartment), it was nice. Very clean, very secure with quite a bit of storage. We opted for a room with two queen beds, instead of a queen and sleeper sofa. You can see from the pictures, it’s very basic, but fine for what we needed.
We requested a room on the 4th floor so we’d have less ‘neighbor noise’ to contend with, but it sits right by I-77, so there was always traffic noise. Usually not too bad though.
I needed a more comfortable chair, so I borrowed one from work. The ones at Woodspring (as you can see in the picture) are made for really large and heavy people. Neither description fits me. It just wasn’t always a comfortable place for us to live. We got tired of sitting on the beds!
And we spent another month trying to use up all the food . . . .
It’s amazing how much you accumulate when you have the space! And we had plenty of space in our house. But it’s dwindling little by little.
I realized early on, even before the house sold, that our way of shopping was going to have to change on the road. Instead of looking at ads and buying the stuff we used (like, “Oh! Busch’s beans are on sale this week, 5/$5, so let’s buy 5!), we would be planning menus (maybe based on a weekly ad, maybe not) and buying only what we need for the week.
Work commute time: 6-7 minutes for Terri, 10-15 minutes for Blaine.
