Overnight, the temperatures plummeted! We awoke to a coach that was only 58 degrees, and while that’s not bad, it’s the ceramic tile floor and “Corian” counters that absorb that cold and make it feel much cooler than 58!
As we talked about how we would spend our day, I informed Blaine that I simply wasn’t up to another strenuous hike. I’d stay home and be Domestic Goddess, and he could go out if he wanted. However, no taking chances!! The conversation eventually turned morbidly to what I’d do if he didn’t return, and I said I’d like to have a nice saying on a tombstone like they used to do. And then this little ditty shot out of my mouth,
His fall from grace was great
He quickly fell to land
Oh that he would have heeded me
And stayed to hold my hand
So, I stayed home and Blaine took off for the Summit of Black Mountain a 5.5 mile round trip hike.
He texted me periodically to let me know he was OK. : )
He saw some wonderful scenery on the way,
but once he reached the Summit, he was a little disappointed. : (
But besides views along his journey, he was blessed with a visit from a barred owl! In the middle of the morning!
Meanwhile, I baked cookies, worked on the blog (namely researching Madame Sherri😊), and did a few domestic chores.
Later in the afternoon, we went to check out a nearby Park – Dummer Park – and walked the ½ mile trail. There was nothing to take pictures of and nothing to write about.
Tomorrow we move to New York.
