Into The River 07/26/19

Camping Rimouski & Motel of Anse, Quebec, Canada

With me (Wisdom), are riches and honor, enduring wealth and prosperity.  My fruit is better than fine gold; what I yield surpasses choice silver.  I walk in the way of righteousness, along the paths of justice, bestowing wealth on those who love m and making their treasuries full.  ~ Proverbs 8:18-21

Cooper Thomas Peck was born this morning at 6:48am!  At 7# 6 oz. and 20”, he’s a little smaller than we’d expected, being as his father was 9# 14oz and 22 ½” .  😊  But he’s a wonderful little bundle of God-designed, God-blessed, God-given joy!  Wish we were there to hold him (and the parents, Kyle and Shena, and siblings, Kade and Harper) and share more in the joy. Times like this are the down side of this lifestyle.  ☹ Cooper is our 6th grandchild, and 5th grandson!

Allow me introduce to you . .
Cooper Thomas Peck!

Today’s adventure almost made us forget what was going on back home.

We kayaked in the St. Lawrence River today and what a wonderful, beautiful, sedately exciting adventure it was!

Clear blue water, tree-covered cliffs, rocks, wet bottoms and . . . . seals!

We set sail about 8:45am and returned around 1:45pm.  It certainly didn’t seem like a 5-hour tour!  The time went so very quickly!  The water was calm and smooth when we set out, and the weather was perfect.

Lovely already and we’re not even in the water yet!
We had to rush a bit to get in ahead of this tour group.
Off we go!
We always hang our feet over the edge
when we first get in to allow the water to drip off our shoes.
Just in case you were wondering. : )
Isn’t that a great picture Blaine took??
So beautiful!
It reminded us a little of kayaking on Lake Superior last year.
But remember . . . this is a river!
Did you notice the new hat?
They had a blue one, just like the red one where we bought our park pass for today.
So calm! I liked the ripples on the water that our boat made. : )
Our first seal spotting!
Kinda far away, though, but when I asked God for seal sightings,
I forgot to specify up close. : )
There’s another one!
Oh! Another, and he’s closer!
So cute!
We’re still a long way off, but this rock full of sunning seals was quickly abandoned.
There they go!
And then there was one . . . and he left right after this picture was taken.
Their heads kept popping up all around us.
Curious creatures, but not curious enough to come any closer. : )
We pulled up on this rock to stretch our legs.
We sorely needed it. : )
This used to be a sea urchin.
There are very few shells around here, so this was a surprise!
We’re scouting for a place to get out and eat lunch.
This one wasn’t good, so we backed out.
This is the place!
We spent a good amount of time here, just soaking it all in.
Thank You, Father!
That’s our lunch.
We’re exploring around the rocks, because we didn’t climb enough of them the other day. : )

By the time we headed back, the wind had picked up some (fortunately at our backs 😊), and so had the waves, so it was much more choppy on the return.  Kinda fun, skimming the waves!  We actually got wet getting back in the boat after lunch.  The water was rising, the nose dipped down, and the water rose inside the boat.  😊  We got wet, but all the excess went underneath us (there’s a lining in the bottom), so we didn’t have to deal with it sloshing around until we returned and dumped it out.

When we got back in, the water washed over the front, leaving some debris behind. : )
The water’s more turbulent now.
But since the wind’s at our back, it wasn’t difficult to maneuver.
Look how much lower the tide is now!
It’s good we got back when we did, or we’d’ve had to portage the boat for a while.
Still a beautiful place!

What a glorious day!  Especially our chosen lunch spot!  Thank You Father, once again!

But mostly, Thank You for the new addition to our family!
