Moving Day 08/24/19

My Brothers Place Campground, Houlton, Maine

A righteous man is cautious in friendship, but the way of the wicked leads them astray.   ~ Proverbs 12:26

We headed further south into Maine today.  Yes.  Already.  It’s been a long time since we’ve only stayed a couple of nights somewhere.  Once I’d taken one picture, the rest of the trip looked virtually the same.  Tall trees on either side of the road.  We suspected this would be the case, so I’d planned on getting completely caught up on the blog and also spending time doing research since we had a 5-hour, 255-mile journey ahead of us complete with a fuel stop.  But the road was just too bumpy to work.  So I sat up front and read and dosed occasionally.

Meanwhile, Blaine was griping the wheel the entire time, fighting a pretty stiff breeze and later, traffic.

Well, that’s a bit concerning – – we’re 13′ 1″.
Best not hit a bump!
Here we go . . . .
Gues we made it because we’re still here to finish the trip. : )
The city of Portland, Maine. The largest city in Maine.
Passing through another small town.
Look who we’re sharing the road with!
As you can see, not much wiggle room for us to be side-by-side!

Wassawki Springs Campground, Scarborough, Maine

Here we are!
Driving back to our site.
We actually ended up being on the far side of that white pick-up.

Once we were set up, we walked all around the campground, but there were too many people out and about for us to take pictures comfortably.  There are quite a few seasonals here with fairly elaborately decked out sites – flowers, decorations, decks, etc.  We’re not sure why they would choose here, but who knows . . .  maybe one day people will say that about us.  😊

Oh.  And then there was the band.

We were told when we checked in that there was a live band tonight and they were very good and they’d be playing from 7-10pm.

The band’s just getting started . . . : (

We didn’t know they’d be right outside our window playing loud enough for the entire campground to hear.  And no.  They weren’t very good.  Three hours, with a couple of 15-minute breaks.  That was our evening.  We cranked up the TV and watched a loud movie to try to drown them out.  Being a mom, I’m better at tuning stuff out than Blaine is.  Plus his hearing’s better than mine.  At least they stopped promptly at 10.  We peeked out a couple of times, but there was never more than a handful of people over there listening.  Then again, I suppose no one had to actually go over.  They could enjoy them from the comforts of “home”.
