Today marks the 152nd Memorial Day.  Since it’s inception, 633,378 Americans have lost their lives to combat, fighting for the freedoms we enjoy and protecting our people. 

In addition, 57,938 died in conflicts from the American Revolution until the Civil War, and another estimated additional 655,00 in that war alone.  The total of all these sacrifices is an astounding 1,346,316 and that doesn’t count those who were wounded, or died from their combat wounds.

Memorial Day was introduced for the purpose of remembering all these sacrifices men and women have made in battle. 

Let us never forget.

We spent the entire holiday doing domestic things – – breakfast, laundry, shopping – again – where we were able to snag the last package of ribs for our dinner today, a quick stop at an Arby’s drive thru for Beef and Cheddars, returning home and putting laundry an groceries away . . . . .

After all that, the day was practically over.

Dinner was those delicious ribs, baked potatoes and cole slaw.  Well, sort of on the slaw.  We had one of those salad bags with shredded cabbage and added some slaw dressing from the store.  Certainly nothing like Grandma’s.  😊

He said this is only a sample of the whole! Very cool!!!

Another race, another movie, another blog session in the bedroom, and we called it a day.

RIBS

1 full slab baby back ribs                          

1T. paprika                                              

2T. Kosher salt                                

1T. dry mustard

½ t. cayenne pepper

½ t. black pepper

Remove the membrane on the back of the ribs and cut into desired sized pieces.  Rub with seasonings.

Place ribs in 9×9 stone.  Cover tightly with heavy duty foil.

Bake 1 ½ hours at 250 degrees, then 1 hour at 350 degrees.

Remove from pan and grill.  Serve with BBQ sauce on the side.
