What A Site! 04/23/21

Tallulah Gorge State Park, Tallulah Falls, Georgia

When they reached the place God had told him about, Abraham built an altar there and arranged the wood on it.  He bound his son Isaac and laid him on top of the wood. ~ Genesis 22:9        Boy, do I wish we were privy to the conversation between father and son!  Since most believe Isaac to be about 25 years old (and even if he were younger!), he certainly could’ve overpowered Abraham and refused this most inhumane of acts.  Everyone talks about the faith of Abraham, but based on this, I believe Isaac’s is just as great.  It had to be, because he had to be willingly bound.  He had to willingly lay upon the wood.  He had to have been willing to allow his father to cut his throat.  And what a foreshadowing of what God and Jesus went through!  Agreeing that the Son would be the ultimate sacrifice, willingly allowing himself to be laid upon the wood (cross), and waiting for the end to be brought about by the Father.  This also teaches me how lacking my faith is.  Oh sure, I think I have plenty where me/myself/by myself/about myself, is concerned, but when you’re talking about my sons?  I talk a good talk, but I question, and argue, and demand – a LOT.  What about you?

Abraham & Isaac: Sacrifice. This morning I read from the Daily… | by Cory Howell | Bible and Prayer Book | Medium

Our resident weatherman (that would be Blaine), has been keeping his eye on the incoming weather.  A real soaker is on its way for tomorrow.  Torrential rains and a few thunderstorms – – all day long.  Because of that, and because the weather reports haven’t changed for the past few days, we have a God Moment to report.  (Yay!!! I LOVE God Moments!)

The other day, once Blaine made his mind up (and checked with me), he looked up availability for an extra day at our next site.  The only, and I mean ONLY, spot available for Friday, was the same spot we already had reserved!  He called and reserved us an extra night with no problem.  Is that great or what?!?

So we left Tallulah Falls for Seneca, South Carolina today, which is roughly 1 ½ hours and 51 miles away.

Blaine went for a short walk before we left this afternoon.

We had a couple of unexpected sprinkles, but other than that, it was a good, and relatively uneventful travel day.  No issues with driving (once we got out of the Park), but there were a few interesting sights along the way.

Now begins the tight squeeze to get out of here.
Our Jeep could really use a good washing!
Maybe tomorrow’s rain will help.
Whew! We made it!
This is what happens when Disney closes . . . .
Boy would we like to get our fuel there! lol
Crossing border . . . . .
We saw several trucks full of chickens today.
Almost there!
The road dead ends into the Park.

South Cove County Park, Seneca, South Carolina

It’s very beautiful here! We’re looking forward to a restful time!
That’s our spot! Isn’t it something?!?

This is a most amazing site!  Easy in and out because it’s a pull-through site, and we’re right on the beautiful shore of Lake Keowee.  When we were here in this exact same spot two years ago, we received an Amazon delivery via boat!  Whadayathink of that??

Blaine’s brother, Bruce and his wife, Donna, stopped at the local marina, rented a boat for us to enjoy for the day, and brought us a couple of boxes we’d had delivered to their house.  It was a special and fun day!  It’s also the day our obsession with crack began.  For those of you who may have missed it, the recipe’s at the end of the post.

This Sunday, we’ll be driving to their place for a visit.

CRACK

1 package candy-making white chocolate (WalMart’s Great Value brand is good)

1 C. regular salted peanuts

1 C. plain M&Ms

½ C. craisins

Melt the white chocolate.  Quickly stir in the peanuts, M&Ms and craisins.  Mix well.  Quickly pour into a jelly roll pan and spread out as evenly as possible.  Place in the refrigerator to firm up, then break into bite-sized pieces.  Store in plastic bags, preferably in the frig.

I have no idea why those letters are blue . . . . . .
