Trussville Hike     11/24/21

Carson Village, Birmingham, Alabama

After Jacob returned from Paddam Aram, God appeared to him again and blessed him.  God said to him, “Your name is Jacob, but you will no longer be called Jacob, your name will be Israel . . . I am God Almighty (El Shaddai); be fruitful and increase in number.  A nation and a community of nations will come from you, and kings will come from your body.  The land I gave to Abraham and Isaac I also give to you, and I will give this land to your descendants after you.  Jacob set up a stone pillar…poured out a drink offering on it…also…oil. Jacob called the place where God had talked with him Bethel.   ~ Genesis 35:9-15     I confess I was confused by this for a minute.  It sounded to me like we’d gone back in time to when God spoke to Jacob just a few chapters ago when we talked about the ‘ladder dream’ and the wrestling match.  But it’s not.  It’s God reaffirming His covenant promise.  It seems God is constantly having to remind us of His Love and Provision.  When will we experience enough fulfilled promises to secure our faith in Him?

LIBATIONS TO GOD IN BIBLE – GOD'S HOTSPOT

It was hiking for us again today.  Gotta burn every possible calorie in preparation for tomorrow and the feast that awaits!

Today’s trail of choice was the Trussville City Park.  It was a really nice trail with plenty of diversity – and hills.  Just the ticket for burning pre-Thanksgiving fat!

Those look like you could eat them! We didn’t try it though . . .
The trail went alongside a neighborhood.

Dinner tonight was a new recipe Blaine’s mom gave me when we were home this Fall – Buffalo Chicken Lasagna.  David and I loved it.  Blaine did not, so I guess I won’t be making it again.  I can’t make something like that just for me.  ☹

I guess I shouldn’t have been surprised.  He doesn’t care for the flavor of buffalo sauce, but he loves spicy food and hot sauce.  When he gets wings, he always orders the garlic/parmesan or barbecue kind. . . .
