I know. I know. These dates today are crazy! Nine whole days in one post! And no. The length of the content won’t reflect that. I’m guessing I could go right through at least Saturday, the 3rd, but I thought I’d get something in here. I don’t know if it’s writer’s block, busyness, or laziness. Guess we’ll find out after Christmas when we get back to our “normal” travel schedule. 😊
Today, we moved into Alabama where we’ll be parked until December 27th. We’re headed to my brother, David’s. Yippee!!! If you’da told me 20+ years ago that we’d get along so well, I’da told you you were crazy. We didn’t care much for each other as kids (thanks to underlying parenting issues from our dad), and that carried over by default into our adult years. Not so much not caring as just indifferent. Grace, grace, God’s grace and forgiveness is the only answer for it. Praise God from Whom all blessings flow!! And love abounds!
Carson Village, Birmingham, Alabama
When we arrived at our reserved-a-year-ago site, there was another RV parked there! Oh no!! Blaine stayed calm, we unhooked the Jeep, left our RV parked in the street and drove the Jeep to the office. They no longer had our reservation and the woman who’s been working here for years was no longer with the company. Oh no! But God already had a plan in place – a nice and larger site just for us, with quiet and friendly neighbors. Isn’t He wonderful?!?
Once we arrived and set up, we met David for dinner at our favorite Mexican restaurant, Casa Fiesta. It’s not so much that they have food any different than any other chain Mexican place, but they have this one item – – their Fiesta Bowl that we’ve not discovered anywhere else, and it’s phenomenal! Sort of a fajita in a bowl over rice, with white cheese poured over top. My, oh MY!! Every Mexican place should add this to their repertoire!
We spent David’s entire week of vacation together, right through Thanksgiving and up through Sunday night, eating, playing games, eating, watching college football, eating, talking, eating, reminiscing, eating, hiking …… well, you get the picture. That’s why we hiked so much. Lol
Just for future record, we’ve also dined at Costa’s Italian/Greek, and Jim n’ Nicks BBQ, and Chick-fil-A. So far. At home, we’ve devoured a huge Thanksgiving dinner – several times, shepherd’s pie, and jambalaya. We are so blessed to be able to eat well!
We visited a new place to hike called Moss Rock, which was a lot of fun, and back to a couple of our old haunts as well – Trussville Sports complex and Turkey Creek.
Then David went back to work, and we spent eight hours driving around Trussville shopping and running errands for a bunch of personal stuff, including laundry and groceries. I know eight hours sounds excessive, but you’re talking clothes shopping with a woman here . . . . I know some of you will understand. 😊
And that’s it for this post. Enjoy the pictures!
Till we meet again!
