I know.  I know.  These dates today are crazy!  Nine whole days in one post!  And no.  The length of the content won’t reflect that. I’m guessing I could go right through at least Saturday, the 3rd, but I thought I’d get something in here.  I don’t know if it’s writer’s block, busyness, or laziness.  Guess we’ll find out after Christmas when we get back to our “normal” travel schedule.  😊

Today, we moved into Alabama where we’ll be parked until December 27th.  We’re headed to my brother, David’s.  Yippee!!!  If you’da told me 20+ years ago that we’d get along so well, I’da told you you were crazy.  We didn’t care much for each other as kids (thanks to underlying parenting issues from our dad), and that carried over by default into our adult years.  Not so much not caring as just indifferent.  Grace, grace, God’s grace and forgiveness is the only answer for it.  Praise God from Whom all blessings flow!!  And love abounds!

Driving down the mountain to get out of the State Park was pretty harrowing! But Blaine’s an excellent driver. I just tried not to look out the side window . . . : )
Hairpin turns!
We didn’t go anywhere near 55!
We made it to the highway!

Carson Village, Birmingham, Alabama

When we arrived at our reserved-a-year-ago site, there was another RV parked there!  Oh no!!  Blaine stayed calm, we unhooked the Jeep, left our RV parked in the street and drove the Jeep to the office.  They no longer had our reservation and the woman who’s been working here for years was no longer with the company.  Oh no!  But God already had a plan in place – a nice and larger site just for us, with quiet and friendly neighbors.  Isn’t He wonderful?!?

There they are. Sitting in our spot.
Another blessing for the move for us?
We didn’t have to build a bridge to get over the culvert and into our spot.
It’s nice and almost level at the new spot. : )

Once we arrived and set up, we met David for dinner at our favorite Mexican restaurant, Casa Fiesta.  It’s not so much that they have food any different than any other chain Mexican place, but they have this one item – – their Fiesta Bowl that we’ve not discovered anywhere else, and it’s phenomenal!  Sort of a fajita in a bowl over rice, with white cheese poured over top.  My, oh MY!!  Every Mexican place should add this to their repertoire!

We spent David’s entire week of vacation together, right through Thanksgiving and up through Sunday night, eating, playing games, eating, watching college football, eating, talking, eating, reminiscing, eating, hiking …… well, you get the picture.  That’s why we hiked so much.  Lol

Just for future record, we’ve also dined at Costa’s Italian/Greek, and Jim n’ Nicks BBQ, and Chick-fil-A.  So far.  At home, we’ve devoured a huge Thanksgiving dinner – several times, shepherd’s pie, and jambalaya.  We are so blessed to be able to eat well!

We visited a new place to hike called Moss Rock, which was a lot of fun, and back to a couple of our old haunts as well – Trussville Sports complex and Turkey Creek.

Then David went back to work, and we spent eight hours driving around Trussville shopping and running errands for a bunch of personal stuff, including laundry and groceries.  I know eight hours sounds excessive, but you’re talking clothes shopping with a woman here . . . . I know some of you will understand.  😊

And that’s it for this post.  Enjoy the pictures!

We thought this pretty funny sitting out in the middle of the woods.
The guys like to confer when we hike. : )
There’s still Fall leaves around David’s area.
So pretty!
David said he was here one day a long while ago
following a bunch of rain and this waterfall was gushing down through the valley.
Our lunch spot for today.
Isn’t this cool?!?!?
Like the pages in a giant book!
This is the rings of a fallen tree.
There’s more to this waterfall than what you can see. The trail continues to the top.
Blaine decided to try to remove the fallen tree
because I casually mentioned it was interfering with our view.
What a knight I have!
Here it is!
We’re at the top, and I ventured out to get a picture.
That is one gigantic pine cone!!
Happy Thanksgiving!!
David smoked us a very large turkey! It was sooo good! He had to get up a couple of times during the night to check on it. Thanks for missing sleep to cook it, David! He said it was worth it.
Yepper. All this food’s for three of us.
There WERE leftovers, but we ate really well.
And there were two pies that I didn’t take a picture of – apple and pumpkin courtesy of Marie Callender. : )
David makes great deviled eggs!
Our exercise for today was to walk to the bottom of David’s street and back up.
It’s a very steep hill. : )
Aren’t these pretty?!? They’re in David’s front planter!
Wanna know a secret?
He spray painted his front porch and it got on whatever this plant is.
Beautiful!
Hopefully the plant will survive the painting.
Blaine tried out David’s e-bike one day.
It’s mostly for him to ride on mountain trails.
I refused to try it on the steep hill, but maybe sometime before we leave.
It’s really too bad the Buckeyes lost to Michigan.
Now, everywhere we go, when we run into Michigan fans, they’ll gloat . . . .
No different than we do to them when we win though, is it?
My sweetie took on Christmas decorating this year so I could work on the blog. : )
Welcome to the waterfall at Turkey Creek Nature Preserve!
You may remember that a couple of years ago, I slipped on the rocks and fell in.
Lesson learned! Stay off the wet stuff and keep your boots dry! : )
There were gobs of these mushrooms growing alongside a section of the trail.
Blaine looked them up with his app, and unfortunately, you can’t eat them.
You’re not even supposed to touch.
Too late!
I already did when I was cleaning them up for a picture.
Yikes! No ill effects. Whew!
Good grief!
Now I’ve got two of them who don’t listen.
Of course, you could also count me……. : )
Son, Chris got a new toy for an early Christmas present.
It’s a commercial meat grinder.
He’s regularly tasked with processing venison, and this will make the task much easier and quicker.
To try it out, he made chicken sausages. Matthew loved watching!

Till we meet again!
