A Study In Frustration     7/26/18

In his heart, a man plans his course, but he Lord determines his steps.  Proverbs 16:9

Because of today’s forecast, we mostly stayed in today.  It seemed as if I would be able to get caught up on the blog, plus throw in a few other things as well.

Blaine’s big plan for the day was getting a haircut and trying to buy a couple of groceries.

It was a very frustrating day!

His haircut went well, although he was chastised – more than once – for being on Lake Superior in a kayak.  In addition, it cost him $22!  Even with the exchange rate, that’s still a lot for a man’s cut!

Then he dropped in on three different grocery stores looking for a handful of things.  The first place was called a Market, but they only had food that you pay to have prepared and you take it home and cook it.  Sounded to me sort of like those relatively new on-line places like Blue Apron, only instead of having it shipped to your door, you go to this M&M Market and pick it up.

Then he discovered a second grocery store that looked boarded up, but had an entrance from a mall.  Their shelves were practically empty.

Back at our original store, there was more of the same.  Empty shelves.  He was hoping for ice cream, but when he went to pick it up, the carton was mushy.

Honestly, how do people do it around here?  Maybe that M&M place really is the best deal in town?  Anyhoo, he came home frustrated.

Meanwhile, I was battling the laptop.  I can’t really explain what was going on, but it was taking me forever to get anything done, what with the mouse jumping, causing me to type and retype and retype things – both in the body and on the pictures.  At times, it would highlight things and make them disappear, too.  And then, there’s the somewhat slow internet that made uploading the pictures a tedious and time-consuming process.

The last straw was when it deleted all my Lake Superior kayaking pictures – before I was even done with the post!  I was real close to tossing the thing across the room.  Blaine talked me down.

But that meant that this morning, I had to put the pictures from our phones, back into the computer and sort through them and make any changes that needed made to them – – again – – before I could put them back into the blog.

Sigh . . . .

Buffalo chicken sandwiches for dinner.  And yes.  I consider that comfort food.
